Bad Diet
Let’s face it. Americans have the worst diet imaginable. And the funny part is, we seem to love it. Today the Standard American Diet, or SAD, has many pitfalls. Between leached soils we use for growing our foods to the carcinogens we eat every day, it’s no wonder cancer rates are on the rise.
Right now at the forefront of the news is the dreaded ‘pink slime’ that has been added to our ground beef. This pink slime carries the official named lean, finely textured beef. I can’t imagine how eating an ammonia treated meat byproduct could even be considered a good idea. I mean if it’s not good enough for dog food, why would they put it in human food? I guess because it is worth more in human food. Then they pipe it directly into our schools and feed our children. then we are surprised at how many people are getting sick. Not just a cold sick, but cancer sick.
Then there’s the staple of life. Bread. Did you know that many breads contain a substance that is banned in both Canada and Britain and is classified as a Carcinogen by the state of California and our own EPA. This chemical is Potassium Bromate, and it is used by commercial bakeries to help the dough rise.
Check your bread label for Azodicarbonamide. Azodicarbonamide is used to make plastic and rubber products, but it can also be found in breads, buns and bagels. The World Health Orgaization reports that this chemical can cause asthema symptoms and respiratory problems. Yet for some reason we eat it every day.
I could go on about bad diet but entire volumes of books have been written on the toxins we eat every day. When you add this to the fact that our foods are reports to contain less nutrition than they did 20 years ago, you can easily see why Americans are getting sick in record numbers.
Excessive Use of Antibiotics
Antibiotic use in the last century. Not only in our children, but in our food animals as well. Oh yeah, we get some of those antibiotics in our bodies as well.
A University of Chicago MBA did a case study was on the use of antibiotics in chickens. It seems that they grow 60% quicker with antibiotics.
A German study found that almost all chicken farms in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia feed antibiotics to their birds in order to keep them healthy, something that can cause lasting resistance to medicine in humans, according to a state minister.
It also reported that the intake of excessive amounts of antibiotics can lead to drug resistance, making it impossible to treat serious disease, Remmel said.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, more than 15,000 people die in Germany each year due to drug-resistant bacterial infections such as the hospital bug MRSA.
The same thing happen in America. Many, if not most, commercial chicken feeds contain antibiotics. As stated above these antibiotics not only help the chickens grow quicker, they are also believed to help prevent any disease outbreaks.
We have only scratched the surface here. But the bottom line is that it is hard to have a good diet today. Even when we think we are eating a good diet, we are ingesting chemicals and drugs.
